Information Sites provide a service to the community, usually free, but charge for advert sponsers. They are a good example of a data driven web site design. In other words the pages are not static but are built from the result of a search from the related database. Because pages are created from nothing and delivered to the user, there are less 'actual' static pages in the web design. This in turn can lead to less links and therefore the site may not be as well ranked as perhaps it should. The cure for this is to use a web site design that uses static gateway pages to the main system. This, if relevant and done correctly, is perfectly acceptable to most search engines. Before entering into this market, ensure that you have sufficient sponsors to justify the web site design development and running costs of the system. |
